So what did everyone think about this episode? I'm hoping folks will answer this so this board can get jumping.

I thought this was a pretty good episode. To learn about Charlie's past really made it interesting. Just learning his story made me look at him a little differently. Instead of thinking himself a hotshot he really was a down to earth kinda guy who, in the beginning, felt guilty about what he was doing (sex). You can tell he had a dream but his brother took over his dream. I'm not saying his brother (Liam) made him take heroin but Liam's actions led Charlie to it. Then his brother gets straightned up but poor, old Charlie is hooked because it made him feel good. Charlie obviously just wanted to be recognized for being somebody, for being important. He never got credit.

I do like how Locke compared Charlie's struggle to that of a moth. That can actually be used to all of our struggles because in the end we are stronger. But I will say Locke is still a little mysterious to me but that might be because he didn't help in saving Jack and that he saw "the monster".

What was cute was the look on Walt's face when his dad took over in getting Jack out. You can tell the boy was proud of his father. He saw a side of his father that he had never knew.

I might be the only one but I just don't want Kate and Jack to hook up, or at least not now. It's too soon for anything like that to happen. There is some tension between the two so something is gonna happen but I hope not yet.

One more thing...the way Kate treated Sawyer when he tried to tell her about Jack was all wrong. To me, it looked like he came with good intentions but she jumped down his throat before he could say anything. And knowing Sawyer, he is the kind of guy who holds things against someone.

Anyone else out there with any thoughts?

It was a great dramatic moment when Charlie took his stash from Locke and threw it into the fire. But, that action was very unfortunate and unrealistic. Any kind of drug or medication is extremely precious to the castaways. For example, if Charlie had heroin or morphine in his plastic baggy, the substance would have been a humane and effective painkiller for someone who gets severely injured on the island.

I think I liked this episode more than I liked all the others. In the past episodes, we were always given what we thought each character was, then through a flashback, told they were something completely different (best example being Locke).

With Charlie, they stayed true to the guy we know on the island, which is a sympathetic, caring person with problems.

Also, nice to notice the obvious nods to Oasis: Quarrelling brothers, drug use, "Liam."

Yeah, they did stay true to the image we know of Charlie. I still feel bad for him because it was quite obvious that Charlie is a sweet guy and the only girl on the island that has given him really the time of day has been Claire.

I'm glad that you mention about Oasis because I didn't even notice the similarities between Charlie and his brother Liam to the band, Oasis. Good call.

So, any guesses on who hit Sayid? I don't think it was Sawyer at all but I do think the others will blame him because they don't trust him. I have a weird feeling that it's the French women. Of course, I could be wrong but hopefully we'll find out.

Yeah, I definitely think it was the French woman who hit Sayid. Kristin from E! has spilled that she's a bit crazy. I'm guessing that for some crazy reason she hit him and then just left him, since I don't think the survivors discover her till "Solitary" (airs in two weeks).

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that's not all that crazy over Jack & Kate. However, not only do I not really care whether they get together, but I don't really like their characters. I can't really pinpoint what it is about Jack I don't like, but my dislike for Kate is quite easy to pinpoint. Is it just me?

I think the bubbling relationship between Jack and Kate seems to be forced and not natural. I'm not even sure if Jack in interested in her like she is of him. If he is I'm sure he would want to get things together on the island before acting out on his feelings for her. Of course, I could be wrong.

As for their characters...I like both of them but I would say Jack is a better character then Kate. Of course, that could very well be because she was a fugitive and we don't know why she was running. Also, I don't understand how she can get so attached to somoene so fast after going through a major truama. It seems a little fast for me. And the fact that she doesn't seem to be herself while the others seemed to be themselves. Anyhoo, maybe when we learn more about her background then I can like her better.
