ABC didn't order enough shows (13), so they are on hiatus from now until February! Last year, 24 was on hiatus for 3 weeks in the middle of the season, and I couldn't stand it. 2months is gonna suck even more! tvtome.com/Lost/

This is from "The Fuselage"... ----------------------------------------------------- Part of an article from TVTome....
...what does this mean for Lost? Well, in order to fuel the fire they have going for them, they need more episodes, and they need time to film them. So for those of you who haven't seen the entire series so far, this is your lucky time of year as the show goes on temporary hiatus. Starting December 15th, the show will rerun from the Pilot (in full), and continue down the line until the target date of February. From there, they'll start with Episode 11 called "Whatever The Case May Be" and finish out the season on time in May with however many episodes they decide to finish off the season with. "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
We asked Javi (Javier Grillo-Marxuach, one of the writers on "Lost") for verification after that Tv Tome nugget landed.
His reply: Hi guys, i don't know where tv tome got that article, i mean, i love their site and all, but i gotta tell you -- we are rerunning a bunch of the series over the holiday (as with MOST series), but we got picked up for our full season with plenty of time to make our air order - the idea that we're stuck without knowing how many episodes to shoot or when to air them is kind of strange - we've been working on the eppies without stopping and i have a production schedule right in front of me that says jan 5....i could be wrong, i'm just mid management here, but i'm just saying... -------------------------------------------------------
;D We only have to wait till Jan 5th....but that is long enough!!
BTW... Hi all...I'm Kim from OC, CA I LOVE LOST!

Got this on the day of that original pre-empting announcement:
“Talked to someone close to the show who is off for Holiday now. He says that the replay of shows refers to the Saturday reshowings, not the regular broadcast. He says they have to ep. 13 in the can, and they will start broadcasting new ep.s on January 5. The will show reruns for three weeks in late Jan. and early Feb., then show new in the sweep week of Feb. Break again for two weeks, then show new until the end of the season. There should be 23 episodes this year, but he is uncertain if the pilot counts as one or two.
Sorry I didn't post right away, but wanted to hear from him what is going on.
Again, rebroadcasts refer to the Saturday rebroadcasts, which will be joined by Alias rebroadcasts. New shows do start up, following the regular broadcast schedule, starting on Jan. 5.”
Seems more likely to me that ABC ordered the taping of a full season of episodes after the first few weeks.
Sure, if Lost was posting decent numbers and was perhaps in the Top 20 or 30, ABC might have held off until now to decided whether or not to pick Lost up; but, ABC announced a full order of episodes back in October, and once episodes are ordered, they are written and filmed.
